Oh, six whole days away from Big Box Mart. I could hardly control myself yesterday. I was literally counting down the minutes until I could leave. I actually ran to the time clock. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Today’s plan: totally waste a day and do nothing.
Got up at 11am thanks to Bijou’s whining. Had some tea with wildcrafted mint (still have tons in the freezer). Read another chapter in my vacation book. No Joan Collins for me. I’m reading When Germs Travel: Six Major Epidemics That Have Invaded America Since 1900 and the Fears They Have Unleashed by Howard Markel. Yes, I am nerd and this is what I read for fun.
I had ramen for lunch and took a nap until 4pm. I took a shower and prettied myself up for the big night. Michael has been working at Barnes & Noble for three weeks. He was hired to open up their new location. Today at 5pm they closed their old stand alone location on the biggest retail street in our Northern Indiana city. At 6pm they reopened two miles up the road in a huge building attached to the mall. I had a Carmel Macchiato and sampled a bunch of sweets. Here’s a picture of Michael and I in front of Christianity, the section he shelved, sorted, organized and alphabetized. Check out my handsome hubby (but not too much!):

Check out my fabulous jacket. I bought it last summer at Goodwill. I found it in the pajama section with the tatty old terry cloth robes. I paid $3.00. I carried one of my fave purses. It looks like a rolled up magazine. I thought that was appropriate for a book store opening. I saw a magazine purse on “Sex and the City” a few years ago. I had to have one and bought this one on eBay for $30. Yes, that’s one of the few splurges I’ve ever made in my life.
We stopped at Little Caesar’s on the way home for pizza and breadsticks. A day off and I didn’t even have to cook dinner. What a great way to start a vacation.
