Okay, so I still don’t think I’ll be molding chicken salad into the shape of Mickey Mouse, but I can see how bento box making brings out your creative side. And your frugal side.
Tomorrow’s lunch: a marinated salad of chick peas, celery and cucumber in Caesar dressing (in a small custard-style yogurt container); a boiled egg; one chicken strip (left over from dinner); two cheese cubes (left over from Thursday’s box); a few Cheddar Sunchips; and bottom left, a tiny piece of the apple pie I made the other day. I filled the box in with green leaf lettuce which I can use as a wrap for the chicken and cheese or to mop up the rest of the Caesar dressing. No decorative waste in my bento.
I do see from my pictures that I need more colorful food. Everything is white and green and brown.
Good thing my lunch is packed, because I’ll be grocery shopping for half of my lunch hour tomorrow.

I like the greenness of it! It’s so springy! And here in New England, on this rainy day, we could use a little spring.
