Oh, lucky day. They had a “dump table” of items for $1.00.
I got a pair of new tights, a 3 pack of pantyhose, two pairs of sunglasses, an eyeglass case, a belt, and a bra (I needed hooks and eyes and it was cheaper to buy this bra then buy hooks and eyes at Big Box Mart!).
To save for Christmas gifts, I found a stuffed turtle for my father in law and an apple trivet (Hallmark), also priced at $1.00 each.
I found a lovely blue embroidered pillow for the bedroom for $2.00. I now have a bed ruffle and two decorative pillows. I am becoming one of those women. I will soon have towels you are not allowed to use and tiny shell shaped soaps in my bathroom.
For work, I got a pair of Lands End khakis for $1.25. I just checked their website. They sell new for $39.50!
I was disappointed to see they had raised their jeans price back up to $7.00. You can get new jeans at Big Box Mart for $10.00 and on clearance for $5.00. I found one pair with a 75% off tag making them $1.75.
A trip to Goodwill is always full of mixed emotions. I am excited by the good deals I score, but I lament the days when the thrifts were full of vintage clothes, great cheap books and kitschy knick knacks.
You know you are getting old when you reminisce for the 90s.
