It was a good week Posted by samaree

Michael and I got to eat two meals together this week. I don’t remember the last time that happened. We went to the Farmer’s Market on Thursday and bought tomatoes (vine, grape and green), new potatoes, parsnips, cabbage, cubanelle peppers and zucchini. Michael picked out fresh Muenster cheese and country style bacon. We treated ourselves to drinks at the coffee shop. I had a sugar free caramel latte and Michael had hot caramel apple cider.

We took our time and strolled past everything twice. I am always mesmerized by the colors and scents of all the fresh produce. I even commented on some gorgeous Concord grapes, “Those don’t even look real!” They were a deep purple black with frosted sugar white skin. We saw a 92 pound pumpkin that was only $30! Michael got distracted by the Italian market booth with their selections of olives, sausages and gelato. Perhaps next time we’ll buy some olives and prosciutto from them.

We went home and had a nice breakfast. Over easy eggs, thick bacon, buttered toast and salted sliced tomatoes. Kamilah kept staring at Michael and I. We told her we didn’t have anything she’d want to eat. This is the only cat I’ve ever had that didn’t like any people food. Sebastian liked Cheerios and green beans. Orndorf liked angel food cake and Pepsi. Morkie liked cheese. Louie liked… well, pretty much anything, but especially broccoli and chocolate pudding. I jokingly gave her a piece of bacon (about the size of a button), knowing she’d never eat it. She ate three pieces!

Today, I worked at Comic Doses. It was boring, slow and lonely. When I got home, Michael had done laundry, taken out the trash, mopped the kitchen floor and made dinner. He put a small pork roast in the crock pot with potato, onion, carrot, parsnip, cabbage and a cubanelle pepper. He served the sliced roast and beautiful fall vegetables with sliced tomatoes, salted and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. To drink there was a pitcher of sangria with lemon, lime and apple slices.

How wonderful is my husband?
