My uniform blues Posted by samaree

I don’t care what Big Box Mart calls it. It is not a dress code when you have to wear only navy blue shirts and only khaki pants. It is a uniform. And it really pisses me off.

I wore this same damn uniform 10 years ago at Blockbuster Video. When I left there I had a khaki burning bonfire and vowed never to wear khakis again. (No, I gave them to Goodwill.) Now, here I am again wearing clothes I hate. I am not a khaki wearing girl. I like vintage clothes in loud, bright colors with dizzying patterns. I feel so bland and beige.

I’ve lost about 27 pounds over the last year. That means I lost about three clothing sizes. Almost all my clothes are too big. Way too big. I only have two pairs of jeans, one pair of shorts (that are one size too big), one pair of dress pants and a couple skirts. I’ve been giving my fave pants to my mother in law. At least that way I can keep them in the family. This is my current problem: should I bother buying a whole new wardrobe when I only wear my own clothes two days a week?

I don’t want to be one of those people who live in their work clothes, but sometimes money is so tight I have only $10 or $20 to spend on groceries. Should I spend $5 of that on pants?

Does anyone want to donate their pants? Shoot, that would mean I’d have to publish my size. Never mind.

I don’t own a pair of khakis, and the only navy blue shirt I had was the one I wore to paint my house. I hate being told what to wear sooo….I bought 3 pair of the ugliest dark brown pants I could find, all the same, off the clearance rack at Big Box Mart, then I hopped over to Value City on 10% off day and bought 3 identical t-shirts. I look the same every day and I don’t care!
