coffee – I am picky about coffee. I was addicted to the Columbian Supremo from Granger Community Church’s Cafe. I think that costs $8 a pound, though. I tried 8 O’clock Coffee because it smelled good. I buy the whole bean Columbian for $3.43 a pound and grind it fresh every night when I program the coffeepot.
ranch dressing – Yes, I know it’s become the ubiquitous condiment. It drives gourmets and food snobs crazy. Too bad. I love ranch – on salads, with fresh veggies, on pasta salad, hot wings, chicken nuggets, french fries, onions rings, fried mushrooms, sucked up with a straw…..
hair conditioner – My hair is over two feet long, naturally curly (with a tendency to frizz), bleached and dyed in several colors (natural and unnatural). I have to have conditioner just to be able to comb out the tangles.
canned green beans – I always hated green beans. When Michael and I first moved in together, I would open a can of green beans for him and peas for me. We would eat half a can each for two nights. Then a couple years ago, the tides turned, the moon became full, I developed a new aura (or whatever) and now I hate peas and love green beans. I always have about a half dozen cans in the cupboard because I don’t want to run out.
ramen – I have about 2 dozen in the cupboard at any given time. Mostly chicken, a few beef and maybe one or two creamy chicken. No shrimp, no pork, no picante anything. I like to make a half block noodles with 2 cups water and the seasoning packet. I save the other half block noodles for some other kind of soup. Sometimes I add broccoli or cauliflower to ramen. Clem (the boyfriend of a co-worker who drove a Pepto pink VW Bug) told me years ago to add cottage cheese to ramen. I thought he was weird – until I tried it. Yummy!
pads of paper – I like note pads. Stuck to the fridge with magnets, in drawers, on my desk, in my purse. Even if I wind up trasferring the data to my computer or Pocket PC, I still like having “scratch paper” around to jot things down.
condiments – We have 37 condiments in the fridge right now. Yep, I just counted them. I love mustard. Not yellow, but Dijon, honey, brown, spicy, and Chinese. There’s soy sauce (low sodium), hot sauce (Louisiana, hot wing sauce, and Chinese), mayonnaise, pickles, ketchup (on fries only, please), A-1, BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s and Sticky Fingers), ranch, Italian and Greek dressings, teriyaki, wasabi mayo (great on chicken sangwiches), worcestershire, malt vinegar, sesame ginger marinade, cajun butter marinade…. Okay, we have alot of condiments. I must have mayo. I have to have spicy mustard for hot dogs. Everything else is superfluous, but damn they’re tasty.
soup- I make all my soups (excluding ramen and tomato) from scatch. I usually make 2 kinds every two weeks and freeze them in individual containers for lunch sized portions.
eye make up- I am and always will be a minimal make up girl. I can live without foundation and powder. I only wear lipstick a couple times a year. But I must have eye liner and mascara. I am not complete without it. I think my eyes look small and lend themselves to the adrogynous look I feel I have when I am not made up. (I don’t know. I am 5’1″. I am a size… uh…too big for my height although I am working on it. But, I am no stick. I have lots of curves. I have boobs and a badonkadonk butt. I would never be mistaken for a boy, but somehow feel less feminine when I am not wearing makeup. Social conditioning? You betcha.)
