Some of my favorite things Posted by samaree

Magic Erasers – I bought some generic ones at Lowe’s and I was amazed. I used it to get at the little grimy dots in the apartment linoleum. Then I used it on the walls and the shower and the dog, etc.

Spicy peanuts – The perfect late night snack. Peanuts are kind of naturally sweet, so when you coat them in salt, pepper, cayenne, they become other-worldly.

Librarything.com – A site where you can catalog all the books in your personal library. Or in my case, all the books I’ve read in the past 8 years. Up to 200 books listed for free or $10/$25 unlimited. They are upgrading their server to make it faster. They must have heard my bitching. Here’s my catalog so far: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/samaree

Angel Food Ministries – A collaboration between non-profits and the US government to provide food to anyone. No income checks, no income requirements. You pay $25 per month for a box of food that you have to go pick up. It’s mostly meat (alot of chicken quarters, chicken breast, ground beef, ground turkey, sausage, hot dogs, meatballs, pork ribs, breaded chicken – might be nuggets, thighs, strips ), a dozen eggs, a few boxed and canned goods, a pie or cookies, a gravy packet, mac and cheese, corn muffin mix. The menu changes monthly. I recommend it to everybody. It’s not charity. It’s a discount food program for anyone who wants to order it.

Clean jammies and sheets – I love to take a shower or bath at night then put on my PJs and go to bed. You just feel so clean and relaxed. It makes you let go of the day… Update: Even better is fresh sheets and new PJs.

Using a day off to do absolutely frickin’ nothing- No dishes, no laundry, no toilet scrubbing. Just read, nap, watch DVDs of “My So-Called Life” (the best tv show ever), look at thriftyfun.com and maybe make an easy dinner like ramen or frozen chicken nuggets.
