As usual checked the dry erase board upon entering. Green tags $1.00, yellow tags 75% off the sign read. I dove into the housewares section. It yeilded a ziplock baggie of vintage fruit and veggie magnets for $1.50. Four funny chicken placements followed and a little animal (dog? cat? lion?) made of rocks for a total of $2.00. I found a kids science camp T. The back says “I’m on a science adventure”. Whenever I wear this T to work, I make it my mantra for the day. I also found a great rust vintage sweater for $1.00. I got two t-shirts for Michael for $1.00 each. I found one T for my BIL, Matt. I found a black and hot pink ski sweater with a yellow tag. My hubby found a McDonald’s “The Dog” for 25 cents. I was surprised to see samples of my favorite Fructis gel on sale for 5 cents a packet. Great for travel or tucking in my work bag. My two fave finds were not on “sale”. Two vintage shirts – one pink, blue, yellow striped Western shirt and one black, brown and rust pop-art giraffe print poly button down – $3.50 each. Also a black furry cuffed shrug sweater for $4.50.
Shoes and books sucked as usual. Where did all the good stuff go? Yes, I know. All the cool people bought it all and we have to wait for them to donate it back to the thrift stores. I hold to my theory that as soon as the Gen-X-ers turn 30 they are all going to think they are too old or too professional to wear their thrift store duds.
I’ll be waiting.
