My MIL and I went to Goodwill to look for more work clothes. We stopped to check the dry erase board of specials as we walked in. “All short sleeve shirts – $1. All pink tags – $1.” Jackpot.
We went through all the short sleeve shirts and then went through everything else looking for pink tags. I bought 7 shirts. I found a pair of black dress pants from Old Navy with a $8.50 tag. Since it was pink they were only $1! A pair of Joe Boxer retro bowling shoe mules were $4.50. I found a new item in the boutique section for Michael: a Carolina Panthers jersey hoodie. It was $15, but that’s awesome compared to the $60 retail value. I was supposed to give it to him for Christmas, but I couldn’t wait. I also found a Christian shirt and a Peanuts shirt for Michael, only $1 each. I found a book to put away for my mom for Christmas and book that I read on the train to Chicago.
I should have asked if they have this sale regularly or randomly. The only thing better would be the infamous “Free Day” at Salvation Army. I used to frequent St. Vincent dePaul’s and encountered “Free Sweater” and “Free Coat” days often. I would always leave a “donation” in the amount of the merchandise I was taking as I was not poor enough to need free clothing. I just wanted the funky sweaters and fuzzy vintage coats.
